Jay Davis, Ph.D., Senior Scientist, Clean Water Program Director, Regional Monitoring Program Manager, San Francisco Estuary Institute
SFEI's Regional Monitoring Program has produced a world-class dataset on estuarine contaminants. The program documents long-term trends in contamination through sampling of water, sediment, bivalves, bird eggs, and fish, and evaluates toxic effects on sensitive organisms and chemical loading to the Bay.
Alyx Karpowicz, SF Bay Region Water Quality Control Board, will give a presentation on another contaminated site adjoining and affecting the Baylands, the former Van Waters & Rogers (VWR) location just a few feet west of the Brisbane Lagoon. The RWQCB lists potential contaminants of concern:
1,1,1-TRICHLOROETHANE (TCA), 1,4-DIOXANE, BENZENE, COPPER, DICHLOROETHANE (DCA), DICHLOROETHENE (DCE), DIESEL, LEAD, TETRACHLOROETHYLENE (PCE),
Meetings are held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brisbane Community Center, 250 Visitacion Ave. in Brisbane. The meeting room is below the Brisbane library.
